Morrison Architecture — Legacy Work
Prior to creating Morrison Design, Charles Morrison and Laura Morrison founded Morrison Architecture, P.C. ~ completing award-winning educational, commercial, and civic projects across Arkansas. The projects below represents a part of that body of work recognized by the Arkansas Chapter of the American Institute of Architects and local historic preservation societies.
EUREKA SPRINGS HIGH SCHOOL
Eureka Springs, Arkansas
The Eureka Springs High School is a Morrison Architecture P.C. design. It is located on a steep site in Northwest Arkansas that was already owned by the Eureka Springs School District. The new high school was designed and built to replace the existing, rapidly deteriorating, existing high school. This project received an American Institute of Architects Merit Award and was published in the trade magazine Metal Architecture.
BERGMAN ELEMENTARY
Bergman, AR
The Bergman School District was growing rapidly and needed to add an Elementary School to meet the requirements of the additional students. Morrison Architecture was tasked with Master Planning their existing Campus to add a new elementary school and provide for future additions to the middle and high school buildings. The elementary school was Phase One of the Master Plan.
BOTANICAL GARDENS OF THE OZARKS
Fayetteville, AR
Morrison Architecture, P.C. was given a heavy timber frame skeleton and tasked with creating an Administration Building containing the main entrance and ticketing area, offices, meeting room, public restrooms and a large, indoor assembly space.
Large, “Nana Wall” doors were incorporated in the back and South corner walls of the new assembly room to access the expansive, exterior plaza creating an almost seamless connection between interior and exterior space. During large events, fabric structures are erected on the plaza to create even more protected space for mildly inclement weather or hot summer sun.
PLANER HILL PARK & RIDE
Eureka Springs, AR
This design was inspired by the historic Eureka Springs Railroad Train Depot. The concept was to create the entrance to historic Downtown Eureka Springs from Highway 62 by connecting to the downtown area via an existing sidewalk. This project included a Visitors Center and Trolley Depot with vehicle parking. The Trolley Depot serves as the main hub for the Park and Ride system serving the Historic District and surrounding areas. The Depot was awarded the Best New Building in the Historic District by the Eureka Springs Historical Society.
MORRISON GALLERY, Eureka Springs, AR
