The Kratzers’ purchased a lake view lot on Sailboat Drive in Holiday Island and tasked Morrison Architecture with designing their home. Sailboats quickly became the inspiration for this design. This is one of the trickiest lots I have worked with for a residence to date. The site is steep and access from Sailboat Drive is limited. This predicated situating the detached garage next to the road while locating the residence below. The home is accessed with stairs and a walkway from the drive and covered stairs and walk from the garage. Large windows and doors throughout the main living area take full advantage of the views and decks. Stairs from the decks provide walk-down access to Table Rock Lake. This home has a subtle presence from the road but opens up dramatically to the lake below and valley beyond.
